Things I am excited about.

Things I am excited about.

This isn’t really a ‘fandom’ journal, but I think I will take a moment to share a few things that I am really excited about.

First off, the new season of Doctor Who. There are a number of reasons I am really excited about this, first off, it’s the Doctor, but also Neil Gaiman wrote an episode for this season and apparently there are about eight scenes from his episode in this series trailer from BBC One.

I actually have thoughts on which scenes those are, because if I know Neil at all, I’m guessing I have picked them out, but we shall see… In April – or May, or whenever Neil’s episode actually gets aired.

The other thing I am really excited about is Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson. R.J. has been one of my LiveJournal friends for a very long time and it’s been really exciting to see her get published. With Ultraviolet, I had the opportunity several years ago now to actually read about four or five of the first chapters and give feedback until my life got way too busy to keep up with the giving feedback part. As a result, I am really elated to see this book published because I’ve actually been dying to know the ending for – well, a very long time. This book is released in the states in September & it’s going to be very difficult for me to not pre-order from the U.K. in June but I may end up with more reading time in September as life turns out, anyway, so will wait.

You can view a trailer at the above site, but can read the first chapter at Hachette Australia’s “Date a Book” site.

And if you’re looking for really lovely fantasy and haven’t read R.J. Anderson’s other books, I recommend Knife (Spell hunter in the U.S.), Rebel (Wayfarer in the U.S.) and Arrow in the meantime.

I am also looking forward to daffodils as it turns out, but I will not fax eloquent about those here.
