Inside & Out

Yesterday I begin contemplating the outside of our bungalow properties. I feel as if there are two major projects within our bungalow, one is the kitchen, and the other is the yard. The other things are mostly small and/or if they are large, they are unnecessary at the moment.

The kitchen I have been constantly considering on and off since we bought the place. It lacks counter space, which is its main problem at the moment. It is, however, at least functional if wildly out of character in the home it is in. I was viewing the blogs of some other bungalow owners and thinking that really, I have it good. The kitchen is also something that I want to live in a while to figure out what I might want. I want to look more at what was done and thoughtfully reconsider the past as we remodel. I want a dishwasher! But I also want a kitchen that respects the kitchen that was and will not be looked back on with the obvious statement: ‘oh, this was a kitchen that was not original to the house’.

The lawn is a different thing, though and I think we may begin tackling bits of it more this summer. The creek that runs through it is a huge thing because it’s not so much a creek. And I’m really thinking we do need to uncover that before we can do too much. However, I’m trying to think about places where we could put perennials that are not likely to be disturbed in that process and there are some places. So right now I’m focusing on those and trying to decide which plants might be appropriate.

So these are the plans.
