Autumnal Yum.

Autumnal Yum.

So the other day I stumbled across this list of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Most Obnoxious Food Quotes. I actually sort of love GOOP and Gwyneth Paltrow, but she amuses me.

For some reason this particular quote stuck with me: “The maple syrup adds another layer of autumnal yum.”

Wednesday when I was at Andy’s market they had locally grown bartlett Pears for $0.39 a pound. Now first off, Pears, secondly $0.39 a pound, and thirdly, Locally Grown, and fourthly, seasonal fruits! Those last two things are my current food watchwords.

Aren’t they pretty?

I’ve been reading French Women for all Seasons and one of the things that tend to be suggested frequently as a dessert is a baked fruit – Pears being one of the ones that is used this way. So I went off to Pinterest to find a recipe and came up with this amazing Roasted pears with Maple Whipped Cream and Pecans recipe.

I followed it pretty much exactly – used coconut oil to coat the pears before sticking them in the oven.

I used Pure Eire’s heavy cream and it was amazing. Their dairy is minimally processed and non-homogenized and I swear it whipped faster than most cream does. Plus it’s – wait for it – local (:D!) and from 100% grass-fed cows.

The end result was amazing. Only natural sweetener, a lot of locally sourced ingredients, and a super easy and yummy dessert!
